Weekend before the Spring Cruise; “Have you seen the weather forecast for next weekend?”  “Oh no!”

What we needed was lots of EACC spirit and indeed we had buckets full.   We had a lovely meal Friday evening at Thurne Lion and set off Saturday morning with our glasses half full.

After a rather windy trip up the Ant with waves crashing over foredecks as we crossed Barton Broad it was a relief to get tucked up in Neatished Dyke.  A walk around Neatishead led by Sally and Mike (Nutcracker) including a refreshment stop at their charming cottage, and a good meal at The Whitehorse in the evening was just what was needed to guarantee a good night’s sleep.

Sunday morning we made our way to Wayford and all managed to moor on the public moorings next to the bridge. The day’s treat was a trip up the Far Canal in Moorhen and Swallowtail to John and Susie’s house at Tonnage Bridge. We had a fabulous day, the garden was sheltered and warm, perfect for a picnic lunch, a round-trip walk to Honing Lock and back for tea and cake in the garden.  We were delivered back to Wayford Bridge and then headed for Sutton Broad where we rafted-up overnight after a meal at Sutton Staithe Hotel.

Monday morning we were all ready for a bit of sailing so a timed sail on Barton Broad was arranged. Congratulations to Sally and Mike in Nutcracker, who were the well deserved winners.  Our last stop was How Hill for lunch, masts down then onwards home in all directions.

Cruising boats: 

Evergreen, Pippinjack, Moon Daisy, Nutcracker, Sandpiper, Moorhen, Marilyn Ann, Picus, Moss Rose.

Cruising cars: Dove, Breeze, Sun Glory II, Pilot, Swallowtail.  Lovely to see you guys!

Many thanks to Susie and John for their hospitality, Tom for the taxi service, the windy mooring officers, photographers, cake makers and all who were brave enough to venture out.
