Extra Social Events 2017

Hands Across the Rivers

a joint social event with the

14 January 2017

The 2017 season starts with a joint social event with the Yare Sailing Club on Saturday 14 January from 7pm. This will be held at the Lord Nelson in Reedham, which has recently reopened after a complete refurbishment. It remains a traditional Broads drinkers pub, rather than focusing on food, and offers a good range of beers and other drinks.  There is no food available currently, but the landlady is happy for us to bring in fish and chips from the Reedham chippie - which I hear is very good indeed. Check out the trip advisor reviews here
This is a pub night, so no preorders or prebooking is required, however it would be much, much easier - for us, the pub and the chippie - if I could let the chippie know how many of us there will be and what we want so they can have it all ready for, say, 8pm.  If you are planning on coming and eating then if you could let me have your food order by 6pm on 12 January that would be great - contact Cally
It's a standard chip shop menu - cod, plaice, haddock, sausage, pies etc. - but if you want turbot or halibut I'll ask them!
The refurbishment of the Lord Nelson a very welcome investment in a riverside pub and just what we all want to see across the Broads.  It's also our first joint social for a while and our first with our friends from the Yare so it would be great to see plenty of people. Reedham is accessible by train from Norwich, Yarmouth and Acle and the pub is a 10 minute walk from the station.  There is a possibility of a minibus from the Thurne-ish area so if you are interested in this please let me know before 6 January so I can look into the arrangements.
Please note - you don't need to eat to come to the social and you don't need to preorder to eat. It would just be lovely to see you.
Have a good new year and see you in Reedham!
